Piedmont is a region located in northern Italy and is home to some of the finest natural and mountainous landscapes in Italy and the Alpine region.
Its golfing tradition began very early, when Italy had only a couple of golf courses nationally – when the foundations of the Castelconturbia Golf Club (the first golf course in Piedmont) were laid in 1898.
Let's explore this wonderful region together:
Piedmont: Curiosities and History
Piedmont does not have a unified history, as it only subsequently assumed a defined regional structure, having been marked for centuries by political and territorial fragmentation.
The history of this region dates back to prehistoric times, when one of the most important prehistoric civilisations, that of Golasecca, settled on the shores of Lake Maggiore.
Piedmont played a fundamental role in the history of Italian unification, as part of the House of Savoy, or Piedmont-Sardinia, which was key in the events that led to Italian unification in 1861. At the turn of the 20th century, the region's industrial development began, making it a leader in the automotive, mechanical engineering, and film industries.
