Golf in Trentino-Alto Adige - Region of the Month

Trentino-Alto Adige is a beautiful region in northern Italy with an entirely mountainous terrain dotted with natural spectacles, such as the Dolomites, the Adamello group, the Ortles-Cevedale group, Lake Garda, and the beautiful Lake Braies.

The region is home to some of Italy's most fascinating views and unspoiled nature, thanks in part to low population density and regional regulations.

Let's look together at the characteristics of this region and some of its most striking golf courses:

Trentino-Alto Adige Curiosities and History

Trentino-Alto Adige is an Italian region characterized by strong cultural and linguistic diversity. Because of its geographic location, bordering Switzerland and Austria, the South Tyrolean part has experienced a strong Germanic influence. This is reflected in the predominantly spoken language, German, and in cultural traditions that recall those of neighboring countries. In contrast, the southernmost province of Trento has a marked Italian character, with Italian as the mother tongue of most of the population and with typically Italian traditions and customs.

In summary, Trentino-Alto Adige is a mosaic of cultures and languages, where German and Italian coexist and intertwine, creating a unique and fascinating regional identity.

Food & Wine in Trentino-Alto Adige

Trentino-Alto Adige, as you might imagine, is rich in culinary and wine traditions.

Here are our top tips for our beloved golfers and travelers:

Canederli: Dumplings are a typical first course of Trentino cuisine, full of flavor and energy. They are dumplings made of bread, milk and eggs, usually flavored with added speck, ham, cheese and parsley.

Spätzle: Spätzle are small, elongated, lumpy dumplings; they can be white or green in color depending on whether cheese or spinach is added to the dough.

Carne Salada: Carne Salada is a beloved, low-fat beef from Trentino that is eaten raw in the form of carpaccio or lightly seared. It is a very delicate and palatable meat, simply delicious as a light summer dish with a little arugula, oil and shaved grana cheese.

Müller Thurgau: Müller Thurgau wine has a characteristic color tending toward straw yellow, bringing back light green highlights, while its aroma is delicate and very pleasant, with notes reminiscent of grass and nutmeg aromas. It is an ideal match for delicate fish, cheese or vegetable dishes.

Cabernet: This red wine widespread in the region is distinguished by its distinctive, spicy aroma and round, pleasantly tannic, savory flavor that also recalls a slightly spicy note in the taste. Excellent to be enjoyed with meat dishes, such as roasts and game.

Merlot: An important, persistent wine with velvety tannins, it owes its great pleasantness to the perfect fusion of ripe fruit scents and herbaceous background note, which lingers and is enhanced in the long finish. Another perfect match for meat-based dishes with more intense flavors.
