Golf in the Marches – Region of the Month

The Marches are a jewel set between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, a territory that surprises with its variety of landscapes. From the rolling hills, dotted with medieval villages and vineyards, to the majestic mountains perfect for winter sports enthusiasts, down to the rugged coasts with hidden coves and golden beaches: this region offers an ever-changing panorama, capable of enchanting every visitor.

Let's look at the characteristics of this region together and some of its most stunning golf courses:

Curiosities and History of the Marche

Inhabited since the Palaeolithic era by the Piceni, the Marche region has seen various dominations: from the Romans to the Byzantines, from the Lombards to the Franks. In the Middle Ages, the region was contested between free communes and lordships, such as that of Urbino. After a period of unrest, the Church re-established its dominion. In the Renaissance, the Marche was the scene of struggles between different powers, until its annexation to the Papal States. It was only with the Unification of Italy, in 1860, that the Marche became part of the Kingdom of Italy.

Vincisgrassi: A particularly rich and succulent lasagna, composed of numerous layers of puff pastry, at least eight, alternated with a mixed meat ragu and plenty of grated Parmesan cheese.

🍲 Brodetto Fanese: A rich and flavourful fish soup to be enjoyed with slices of toasted bread, typical of the Marche region.

🍷 Lacrima: This intense red wine is characterised by a ruby red colour with violet reflections. It has a deeply aromatic nose, with intense notes of flowers, particularly rose and violet. To be paired with strong flavours and red meats.

The best golf courses in the Marche region

Thanks to the morphology of the land, the golf courses in the Marche region offer challenging courses suitable for all types of golfers. Furthermore, the splendid landscapes surrounding the courses provide the perfect backdrop for a day of golf (followed by a delicious Italian dinner with local dishes and perhaps some wine).

Let's take a look at them.

Conero Golf Club:

The Conero Golf Club is located within the Conero Park, in the municipality of Sirolo.

Almost seventy hectares where broom, strawberry trees, oaks, tamarisk trees and cherry trees surround the eighteen holes of the championship course and the five of the executive course.

The setting, unchanged and preserved through the centuries, is that offered by the extraordinary beauty of the Marche countryside, its softness, its colours, its produce, the hospitality of its people.

Alpe della Luna Golf Club:

Nestled in the green Appennino hills of the Marche region, Golf Alpe della Luna offers a unique experience for golf lovers and those seeking peace and relaxation.

The club has 15 holes and another 3 in development, which will soon become a fully functional 18-hole golf course.

Golf Club I Lauri

The Golf Club I Lauri course is laid out within a narrow valley, bisected by a stream that cuts across a few holes, becoming one of the primary obstacles that players must pay attention to when playing certain shots, especially from the tee.

Playing at Il Lauri Golf Club certainly requires precision and concentration to avoid seemingly restful holes and shots from suddenly presenting unpleasant surprises for your score.

Golf Club Torrenova:

The area of approximately 35 hectares identified for the construction of the Golf Club is located within a tourist development in the northern part of Porto Potenza Picena, in C.da Torrenova, where the Natural Village tourist complex, the Cinque Vele marina, the Cinque Vele tourist harbour, the Laghetti park, and the cycle-pedestrian path connected to the city centre are already present.
