Marche Landscape and golf course with green and surrounding mountains

Golf in the Marche - Region of the Month

The Marche is a jewel set between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, an area that surprises with its variety of landscapes. From rolling hills dotted with medieval villages and vineyards, to majestic mountains perfect for winter sports enthusiasts, to rugged coastlines with hidden coves and golden beaches: this region offers an ever-changing panorama capable of enchanting every visitor.

Let's look together at its features and golf courses:

Marche Curiosities and History

Inhabited since the Paleolithic period by the Picenes, Marche has seen a succession of different rulings: from the Romans to the Byzantines, from the Lombards to the Franks. In the Middle Ages, the region was contested between free communes and lordships, such as that of Urbino. After a period of unrest, the Church restored its rule. In the Renaissance, Marche was the scene of struggles between different powers, until it was annexed to the Papal States. It was not until the Unification of Italy in 1860 that Marche became part of the Kingdom of Italy.

Food & Wine in the Marche

The Marche, as you might imagine, is rich in culinary and wine traditions.

Here are our top tips for our beloved golfers and travelers:

🍝 Vincisgrassi: A particularly rich and succulent lasagna consisting of numerous layers of puff pastry, at least eight, alternating with a ragout of mixed meats and lots of grated Parmesan cheese.

🍲 Brodetto Fanese: A rich and flavorful seafood chowder to be enjoyed with slices of toasted bread, typical of the Marche Region

🧆 Olive all’Ascolana: Ascoli olives are a traditional appetizer or side dish from the Marche region, prepared with tender Ascoli olives, breaded, fried and stuffed with beef, pork and chicken.

🥂 Verdicchio: Verdicchio wines offer a delightful combination of citrus fruit flavors and a distinctive almond character. While the almond note is initially bitter, it mellows with age, revealing a sweet aspect. To be paired with light and fish-flavored dishes

🥂 Pecorino: Pecorino wine is renowned for its delicate and complex aromas, featuring notes of tropical fruits, citrus, white flowers, and a refreshing mineral quality. Another great pairing for fish based dishes and lighter flavors.

🍷 Lacrima: This intense red wine features ruby red color with violet hues. It has a deeply aromatic nose, with intense hints of flowers - particularly roses and violets. To be paired with bold flavors and red meats.

Best Golf Courses in the Marche

Thanks to the morphology of the land, the golf courses in the Marche region offer challenging courses suitable for all types of golfers. In addition, the beautiful landscapes surrounding the courses are the perfect setting for a day of golf (followed by a nice Italian dinner with local dishes and perhaps some wine).

Let’s give them a look:

From left to right: Conero, Alpe della Luna, I Lauri and Torrenova

Conero Golf Club:

Conero Golf Club is located within Conero Park, in the municipality of Sirolo.

Almost seventy hectares in which gorse, arbutus, oaks, tamarisk and cherry trees surround the eighteen holes of the championship course and the five of the executive course.

The setting, unchanged and preserved over the centuries, is that offered by the extraordinary beauty of the Marche countryside, its softness, its colors, its products, and the hospitality of its people.

Alpe della Luna Golf Club:

Immersed in the greenery of the Marche Apennines, Golf Alpe della Luna offers a unique experience to golf lovers and to those who want peace and relaxation

The club features 15 holes with 3 more under development, soon to be a fully functional 18 hole golf course with great panoramic views.

I Lauri Golf Club:

The course at Golf Club I Lauri develops within a narrow valley crossed by a stream that cuts some holes of the path, becoming one of the primary obstacles to which the player must be careful in dealing with some shots, especially from the tees .

Playing at the Golf Club The Lauri certainly requires precision and concentration to avoid that holes and apparently resting shots suddenly present unpleasant surprises for the score.

Torrenova Golf Club:

The area of about 35 hectares identified for the construction of the Golf Club is included in a tourist-oriented subdivision located in the northern part of Porto Potenza Picena, C.da Torrenova, where there is already the Natural Village tourist village, the Cinque Vele marina, the Cinque Vele marina, the Laghetti park and the bicycle/pedestrian path connected to the urban center.
